Team Zenith from ITE College East emerged as joint-winners (with Singapore Polytechnic) in the Tertiary Student Project category of the Infocomm Singapore Awards 2008.
The Infocomm Singapore Awards 2008 (IS Awards 2008) is an award set up to recognize innovative products (applications software and/or hardware and/or combination) that are developed by local players in the ICT industry. It consists of 16 nomination categories, ranging from Tertiary Student Project to e-Government and Industry Applications.
This year, Team Zenith, a group of Higher Nitec students from ITE College East took part in the Tertiary Student Project category which comprised 13 nominations from various institutions: 5 from ITE, 6 from the Polytechnics and 2 from the Universities. The Awards Dinner was held on 19 September 2008 and Team’s Zenith’s application, Rescue Plus, overcame the odds to emerge as the Winner for their category, with Singapore Polytechnic being the other joint winner. 3 other teams from SP, ITE College West and NUS bagged the remaining merit mentions.
The winners of each category will be selected to represent Team Singapore and take part in the Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2008 held in Indonesia in November this year. They will compete against the best entrees from 16 countries which include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, China, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Myanmar.
